skate park course

Interested in the skate park but don’t know how to start? Want to try park skating for the first time in a controlled space with other roller skaters? This is for you!

This is a progressive class for quad skaters only, with each skill building on the previous skill. It will teach the basics you need to go to the skate park; skating stance, jumps, going up and down, pumping and using momentum, carving, toe stops and how to drop in.

LOCATION: House of Wheels YYC –  3442 118 Ave SE Unit #124
DATES: May 18 – June 1
COST: $90

INSTRUCTOR: Holly Giannoccaro started ice skating in the 90s to play hockey as a tiny human and continued to play competitively into their late teens. They made the life changing discovery of quad skating in 2017 and immediately became hooked. Holly has been an avid pathway skater and roller derby player since 2018, and started park skating in the spring of 2020. Holly is a Skate IA certified instructor who works with both adults and kids.

Special note from Holly: “Park skating can be intimidating. Even as a very confident skater I still didn’t feel comfortable just throwing myself into the park without having an instructor to walk me through the basics, as well as a controlled space to practice in. However, learning and collaborating with your peers is part of the fun and appeal of the skate park! So all I want is to give folks the opportunity to learn and drill the basics so they have the confidence to continue to learn and build their skills in the wild!”
