RHYTHM SKATE DANCE WORKSHOPS WITH HOWARD JENKINS SEATTLE “SKATE KING”

A bit about Howard Jenkings from Seattle, WA:

Howard started skating seriously in junior high in 1969 in San Diego, CA. At that time, he became fascinated with the Rhythmic Roller Skate Dance Style of “Rexing,” and soon joined a local rexing club called the “Nomads” where he placed second in the singles men’s junior division in California. After graduation he attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where every Friday and Saturday in the IMG there was roller skating. Not long after Howard became the Student Coordinator he took over the skating activities and turned it into a skating program. He also created skating classes to teach students, faculty and staff how to skate.
Howard’s passion has been passing on his knowledge and love of skate for others to enjoy. Through the years, he has been a warrior in helping to make the ‘Northwest Skating Community’ a fun, safe, and learning atmosphere for all to enjoy.
He has continued to create and develop many adult skating programs related to skate classes for the past 50 years throughout the Greater Seattle area. His philosophy towards skating has always been therapeutic in nature. It is his hope in all of his skate classes that students experience the therapeutic effect that comes from the music and lyrics being played that will help them to become sound skaters.
